Global Asthma Association (Interasma)

  • Description
  • Mission Statement

    • Interasma is an international health organization completely focused on all aspects of asthma which bridges the gap between academia and the world of clinical practice.
    • Interasma is a forum for interdisciplinary discussions where pneumologists, allergologists, pediatricians, and general practitioners have the opportunity to discuss and exchange information between these specialties on asthma research, practrice and management. In this regard the Association supports a broad range of cooperative endeavors.
    • Interasma is devoted to encouraging asthma education programs all around the world for physicians, as well as for other health professionals, educators and administrators.
    • Interasma is engaged in the international crusade to improve the quality of life of asthmatics and to decrease the prevalence, morbidity and mortality of asthma.

    Objectives

    • To be devoted to the organization of postgraduate education for general practitioners, pediatricians and family doctors. Chapter Meetings should be the starting point to launch national activities in each region. Chapter Chairmen should determine which are the best alternatives to promote our Association and benefit their communities.
    • To continue the dissemination of the International Guidelines of Asthma. Chapter Chairmen should work actively, together with national societies of pneumonologists, allergologists, pediatricians and family doctors, on the local adaptation of the International Guidelines and their implementation among the public and private health care providers.
    • "Considering the world dimension of Interasma, we must tackle the problem of peripheral regions, with special concern to the emerging countries where there is a poor sanitation, a limited education, inadequate healthcare infrastructures and resources and a public ignorance of preventive practices".
