The purpose of the Academy of Business and Retail Management (ABRM) is to inspire, recognise and support excellence in the business and retail management, throughout the United Kingdom and internationally. It takes a lead in facilitating international collaboration, providing an independent and authoritative source of advice, and contributing to academic debate and research. It endeavours to take a lead in facilitating international collaboration, providing an independent and authoritative source of advice. The Academy supports a range of activities and publication (print and electronic), which aim to stimulate curiosity, to inspire and develop future generations of scholars, and to encourage appreciation of the social, economic and cultural value of these areas of study.
To help the cause of progress and prosperity in the society through managerial excellence.
The Academy’s mission would, accordingly, be to make it an internationally recognised body that would stand for the promotion of “excellence” in management education. For reasons outlined above, there would be special focus on retail management. The academy will thus be a major source of catering to the ever increasing need for managerial personnel in both the public and private sectors thereby becoming a vehicle to enhance progress and prosperity, not only at the organisational level, but also at the national level and with the passage of time, at the international level too. And all this through relevant education and research – both in theory and practice.
This aspect assumes special significance when considered in the context of developing countries. A great number of potentially talented students have to forgo quality education, particularly in management these days, given the financial requirements for such courses. The Academy will try to foster and nurture talent in these countries and will thus have a philanthropic underpinning in its approach so far as its service and social responsibility to the society is concerned.
