  • The Inter­na­tional Con­fer­ence on Arts and Human­i­ties (ICOAH) 2014 will be held on 2 – 3 of April, 2014, in Colombo, Sri Lanka at the Taj Samu­dra Colombo.

    ICOAH 2014 exam­ines num­ber of areas relat­ing to the Arts and Human­i­ties. Research areas such Visual and Per­form­ing Arts, Eth­nic Stud­ies, Human His­tory and Pre­his­tory, Dig­i­tal Human­i­ties, Post­colo­nial Iden­ti­ties, Anthro­pol­ogy, Lit­er­a­ture and some more related top­ics will be exam­in­ing in this conference.

    ICOAH 2014 aims to bring together researchers, sci­en­tists, prac­ti­tion­ers and scholar stu­dents to exchange and share their knowl­edge, expe­ri­ences, new ideas, and research results about all aspects relat­ing to Art and Human­i­ties, and dis­cuss the upcom­ing trends in the area of art and humanity.

    Call for Papers

    The Arts and Human­i­ties touch peo­ples’ lives at every level. They con­tribute to our qual­ity of life because, once our basic sub­sis­tence needs have been sat­is­fied, they encom­pass those things that make life worth liv­ing. They also con­tribute to the level of civ­i­liza­tion that makes this coun­try such an attrac­tive place in which to live and work. Arts and Human­i­ties research under­pins our expe­ri­ence when we attend a con­cert or a the­atre, visit an art exhi­bi­tion, a museum or a her­itage site, read a book, or sim­ply won­der what it means to be human.

    The Arts and Human­i­ties cover a very wide range of intel­lec­tual and practice-​based dis­ci­plines and research areas. These include his­tory, clas­sics, archae­ol­ogy, eng­lish lit­er­a­ture, phi­los­o­phy, reli­gion, law, mod­ern lan­guages, lin­guis­tics, infor­mat­ics, media stud­ies, drama, music and design. The Inter­na­tional Con­fer­ence on Arts & Human­i­ties (ICOAH 2014) is the pre­mier forum for the pre­sen­ta­tion of new advances and research results in the fields of Arts and Humanities.

    ICOAH 2014 awards

    Best paper Award

    This award will be granted to the best paper in ICOAH 2014 . Orga­niz­ing com­mit­tee will select the best paper based on feed­back of sci­en­tific review com­mit­tee. Eval­u­a­tion based on rel­e­vancy of paper on given themes, con­tent and qual­ity of the paper and impo­tency of find­ings. Both oral and vir­tual paper sub­mis­sion will be eli­gi­ble to “Best paper award”. Deci­sion of ICOAH 2014 orga­niz­ing com­mit­tee is the final decision.

    Best Pre­sen­ta­tion Awards

    This award will be granted to pre­sen­ters based on their pre­sen­ta­tions at the con­fer­ence. Qual­ity of the pre­sen­ta­tion, con­tent of the pre­sen­ta­tion and level of inter­ac­tion with the audi­ence in the Q&A ses­sion will be used by Ses­sion Chair to select the best paper in his/​her ses­sion. Deci­sion of Ses­sion Chair will be the final decision.

    Best stu­dent award

    This award will be granted to stu­dent pre­sen­ta­tions. Qual­ity of the pre­sen­ta­tion, time man­age­ment and qual­ity of the find­ings rel­e­vant to ongo­ing prac­tices may have higher level of chance to get selected. Deci­sion of the ICOAH 2014 Research panel will be the final decision.

    Desamanya Prof. J.B. Dis­anayaka

    Emer­i­tus Pro­fes­sor of Sin­hala, Desamānya J. B. Dis­anayaka, occu­pies a promi­nent place among the Sin­hala schol­ars in con­tem­po­rary Sri Lanka. Prof. Dis­anayaka retired from the Uni­ver­sity of Colombo in 2002, after a long and dis­tin­guished career as the Senior Pro­fes­sor of Sin­hala. In 2007, he was appointed as the Ambas­sador of Sri Lanka to Thai­land and served as a diplo­mat for four years. Through­out his pro­fes­sional career – first as Pro­fes­sor of Sin­hala, and then as an Ambas­sador — Prof. Disanayaka’srenownin lin­guis­tics attracted the atten­tion of aca­d­e­mic and pub­lic domains. He has had a major influ­ence on Sin­hala lan­guage and gram­mar, and a sig­nif­i­cant effect on a range of other areas from cul­ture to jour­nal­ism, children’s lit­er­a­ture to lan­guage technology.
