The Fifth International Conference on Austroasiatic Linguistics - ICAAL 5 - will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, on November 9 - 12, 2011 and is organised by Mahidol University and Center for Research in Computational Linguistics. The main theme of the conference will be:

Abstracts are to be submitted by email as follows:
- In both PDF and DOC or DOCX formats
- Cover page with name, title, affiliation, position, email, mailing address
- Second page with title and abstract: no more than 200 words including any references
- Please include at least 2 keywords to assist us to allocate panels effectively
The organizers encourage motivated scholars to lead and coordinate themed panels. Panels are expected to be sessions of 1½ or 2 hours duration, allowing 3 or 4 presentations on a common theme. Panel leaders will take responsibility for recruiting and organizing panels, in consultation with the organizers. Please contact the organizers directly with your panel proposals.
Registration fees have been set at 5,000 Baht for early registrations (until Sept 30th) and 5,500 Baht otherwise (3,000 & 3,500 Baht for students). Participants will be able to pay their registrations by cash on arrival (note that ATMs are accessible on the Mahidol campus) or in advance by credit card. The credit card facility will be accessible online via http://www.icaal.org in time to take early registrations in September.
Participants who present papers, and who are citizens of South and Southeast Asian countries outside of Thailand, are eligible for need-based financial aid to assist conference attendance. As in 2009, this will be a combination of travel assistance (from $300 to $500, depending on distance) and/or conference fee waiver. These honoraria will be directly distributed to recipients upon their arrival and registration at ICAAL. Honoraria will not be paid in advance of the conference date.
