Theme: Islamic Personal Financial Planning and Wealth Management
CMIEF was formerly known as Workshop on Islamic Economics and Finance (WIEF) which had been successfully organized by the Research Center for Islamic Economics and Finance (EKONIS) since 2001 to 2011. This year, EKONIS has decided to upgrade WIEF to a national conference with a brand new name - CMIEF 2012.
Theme of CMIEF 2012
Islamic financial planning and wealth management are important components of Islamic financial and economic system. The whole process involves creation/generation of wealth, accumulation of wealth, protection of wealth, purification of wealth and distribution of wealth. The entire process must be Shariah compliant based on the Quran, Sunnah and other accepted sources. Islamic financial planning and wealth management are becoming necessary to individuals and corporations but this conference gives special focus on individuals' needs.
Certified Islamic financial planners are being produced to meet this increasing demand for professional Islamic financial planning and wealth management services in Malaysia. In fact, the potential of asset and wealth management as a new engine of economic growth in Malaysia is clearly reported under EPP 7 and 8 in the ETP report.
Nevertheless, certain segments of Islamic personal financial planning and wealth management are largely undeveloped, for instance Islamic products for wealth distribution. Conventional products are comparatively more developed and have greater variety. Apart from that, current issue such as the abolishing of PTPTN loan is one of the subjects of discussions that calls for the awareness and understanding of the Islamic financial planning and wealth management at the individual level. To conclude, there is a huge potential research area to explore within the theme given and this conference aims to gather the highly quality papers that benefit the stakeholders.
