  • The Global Forum on Research and Innovation for Health 2015 aims to identify solutions to the world’s unmet health needs through research and innovation.

    As world leaders shift their focus to the post-​2015 Sustainable Development Goals, increased understanding of the impact of research and innovation on health is of critical importance. Scientific research and innovation has transformative effects on not only health outcomes, but also on national economic growth and sustainable development. Forum 2015 provides a platform where low and middle income countries take prime position in defining the global health research agenda, in presenting solutions and in creating effective partnerships for action.

    The Council on Health Research for Development (COHRED), in partnership with the Philippine Department of Health and Philippine Department of Science and Technology will host the Global Forum on Research and Innovation for Health in Manila, Philippines on August 24 – 27, 2015. Forum 2015 will bring together all stakeholders who play a role in making research and innovation benefit health, equity and development. This includes high-​level representatives from government, business, non-​profits, international organizations, academic and research institutions and social entrepreneurs among others.

    Call for Abstracts

    The Forum 2015 organizers invite abstract submissions from policymakers, business and community leaders, researchers and scholars, non-​profit and international organizations, and any others from various disciplines and sectors whose work addresses key concerns in research and innovation for health and development.

    The abstracts may be research-​focused, clinical-​focused, policy-​focused or program-​focused. The abstract should describe clearly developed-​work that is evidence-​based. Abstracts describing work that is in early stages of development will not be considered.

    At the time of the abstract submission, authors may request a poster presentation, an oral presentation, or both. The Forum 2015 will make the final decision on what type of presentation method will be awarded based on the overall program needs.

    Topics for Consideration

    The program for Forum 2015 will be built around two major pillars showcasing: (1) key concepts needed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of research and innovation for health and development, as well as (2) ways that research and innovation contribute to solutions to important global health and development challenges faced by low and middle income countries today.
