  • The Depart­ment of Bank­ing and Inter­na­tional Finance at the Uni­ver­sity of Eco­nom­ics in Bratislava, Fac­ulty of National Econ­omy, cor­dially invites you to the 9th Inter­na­tional Con­fer­ence on Cur­rency, Bank­ing and Inter­na­tional Finance (ICCBIF) 2016: “Chal­lenges for Finan­cial Sec­tor of CEE Coun­tries in Over­com­ing Prob­lems of Eco­nomic Inte­gra­tion in the EU which will take place on 20 and 21 Sep­tem­ber 2016 in Bratislava, Slo­vak Repub­lic.

    This con­fer­ence is aimed at bring­ing schol­ars both from the Cen­tral and East­ern Europe (CEE) and other parts of the world to dis­cuss expe­ri­ence of the CEE in over­com­ing the prob­lems related to the process of eco­nomic inte­gra­tion in Europe. The finan­cial sec­tor of the CEE is known to have gone through sub­stan­tial eco­nomic and social trans­for­ma­tion as a pre­con­di­tion for join­ing the Euro­pean Union or the EMU. In light of the recent finan­cial cri­sis the CEE finan­cial sec­tor is daily con­fronted with the over­all insta­bil­ity of world finan­cial mar­ket. The con­fer­ence shall there­fore map suc­cess­ful sto­ries of CEE eco­nomic trans­for­ma­tion so far and high­light new chal­lenges to the future of eco­nomic inte­gra­tion in Europe from the per­spec­tive of finan­cial sector.

    In our call for papers we ask for con­tri­bu­tions that will focus on fol­low­ing areas of research and will be writ­ten in Eng­lish language:

    • Inter­ac­tions between Mon­e­tary and Fis­cal Policy
    • Build­ing up of the Bank­ing Union and its Expected Impact
    • Reflec­tion of Euro­pean Econ­omy Insta­bil­ity on Finan­cial Markets
    • Geopo­lit­i­cal Prob­lems and their Con­se­quences on Price and Finan­cial Sta­bil­ity in Europe

    Pub­li­ca­tion Opportunities

    The con­fer­ence pro­ceed­ings from the pre­vi­ous ICCBIF 2012 and ICCBIF 2014 con­fer­ences were suc­cess­fully indexed in the Thom­son Con­fer­ence Pro­ceed­ings Cita­tion Index and are acces­si­ble at the Web of Sci­ence database.

    Full ver­sions of accepted papers will be pub­lished in the pro­ceed­ings on CD. The pro­ceed­ings will have an ISBN num­ber. All papers that will suc­cess­fully pass double-​blind review process will be pub­lished in a printed book. Printed ver­sion of a con­fer­ence pro­ceed­ings will be reviewed by Thom­son Reuters in order to get indexed in the Thom­son Con­fer­ence Pro­ceed­ings Cita­tion Index (for­merly ISI Pro­ceed­ings) acces­si­ble at the Web of Science.

    Sci­en­tific Com­mit­tee of the ICCBIF 2016 con­fer­ence is cur­rently in talks with sev­eral sci­en­tific jour­nals indexed in inter­na­tional data­bases (e.g. ISI Web of Sci­ence, Sco­pus) about spon­sor­ing a spe­cial issue. Fur­ther infor­ma­tion will be posted soon.

    Authors are requested to sub­mit their sub­mis­sion with abstract in Eng­lish. The full ver­sion of the paper must be in Eng­lish. Its length must not exceed 8 pages and the paper for­mat must strictly fol­low the guide­lines. Please see the sam­ple paper.

    Only papers cor­re­spond­ing to the con­fer­ence top­ics and to the for­mat guide­lines will be pub­lished. Pub­li­ca­tion of papers in the pro­ceed­ings is con­di­tioned on a pos­i­tive assess­ment by reviewers.
