The Organizing Committee has chosen as a theme for the conference “Earth Science – Global Practice”. This theme is designed to reflect the work of international professional geoscientists and align the event with Exploration Roundup.
It is also pleased to announce that IUGS - the International Union of Geological Sciences- is a supporter of the development of the events technical program.
4IPGC will continue the tradition of providing valuable coverage of topics related to professionalism and practice issues affecting Earth scientists globally.
Previous themes for IPGC conferences have been:
- 1IPGC Alicante, Spain, in 2000: “Geology at the Service of Society in the 21st Century”
- 2IPGC London, England, in 2004: “The Professional Geologist in the 21st Century – Challenges and Demands”
- 3IPGC Flagstaff, AZ, USA, in 2008: “Changing waterscapes and Water Ethics for the 21st Century”
The Technical Program Committee has already started to develop the program for 4IPGC.
The Technical Sessions will consist of a combination of formal lectures, followed by question and answer period. It is anticipated that some technical session may followed a forum format with panellist presentations followed by moderated discussion. The program is also expected to include one of more Luncheon Speakers.
In keeping with previous three IPGC conferences, the primary language of the 4th international conference will be English.
