21st Annual National Association for Gambling Studies (NAGS) Conference

  • Conference Call
  •

Prospective presenters are invited to submit proposals for presenting at the 21st Annual National Association for Gambling Studies (NAGS) Conference. Our conferences attract and welcome national and international presentations from the full spectrum of speakers including national and international academics, students and general presentations from industry, Government and the community. The aim of the conference is to be an international forum for discussion on gambling related issues. Following feedback from previous NAGS conference delegates and ideas generated by the organising committee, we invite you to present papers under several categories:

    • Individual Presentations
    • Symposiums
    • Brief Presentations
    • Ideas Forum
    • Panels/Debates

In all categories, papers are invited to address the wide range of issues in gambling and gaming research. Some suggested topics of interest include (but are NOT limited to):

    • Community Education (e.g., social marketing, new initiatives)
    • Early Intervention
    • Innovations
    • Technological Advances
    • Policy (e.g., pre-commitment, harm minimisation)
    • Epidemiology
    • Screening and Measurement
    • Treatment (e.g., effectiveness studies, delivery modalities, primary care partnerships)
    • Industry Initiatives
    • Learnings from other Fields

    Guidelines for all prospective presenters

    All submissions must:

    • Be received electronically to conference@nags.org.au
    • Use the appropriate Submission Form available from our website www.nags.org.au
    • Comply with the instructions on the specific Submission Form
    • Be received by the submission deadline of 31 July 2011

In all cases submission for consideration is not a guarantee of acceptance. The Scientific Program Committee will review all submissions and selection of presentations will be partially determined by its requirement to:

    • Achieve balance in the number of presentations under each theme topic
    • Limit multiple presentations from the same presenter/institution
    • Ensure the range and diversity of NAGS interests are addressed

Please note that all presentations will be listed in the Conference program. The Scientific Program Committee’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. All authors/chairs will be notified in late August as to whether their submission has been accepted for inclusion in the Conference program, except in the case of submissions for peer reviewed papers where final notification of acceptance will be early October. Any queries should be directed in the first instance to conference@nags.org.au

All presenters are required to fund their own travel and accommodation to the Conference and pay Conference registration fees.
