    The Age­ing, Work & Health Research Unit, Fac­ulty of Health Sci­ences, The Uni­ver­sity of Syd­ney, is pleased to host the 12th National Emerg­ing Researchers in Age­ing Con­fer­ence (ERA) in 2013 run­ning Novem­ber 25 – 26, 2013, tak­ing place in Syd­ney, Aus­tralia. The ERA con­fer­ence presents a unique oppor­tu­nity for research higher degree stu­dents in the diverse fields relat­ing to age­ing to present their devel­op­ing research.

    Each year the con­fer­ence draws an audi­ence of stu­dents, aca­d­e­mic researchers, prac­ti­tion­ers and pol­icy mak­ers and ERA 2013 promises to be an excit­ing oppor­tu­nity to net­work, exchange ideas and dis­cuss the lat­est in ageing-​related research.

    The major theme of the con­fer­ence, “Enabling Active Age­ing”, focuses on the pol­icy and prac­tice impli­ca­tions of research. It empha­sises the impact that the work of emerg­ing researchers has on the field of age­ing and the poten­tial their research holds for influ­enc­ing change.

    Abstract Sub­mis­sion and Pub­li­ca­tion Opportunity

    The guide­lines for oral pre­sen­ta­tions and posters is avail­able here. In addi­tion to pre­sent­ing at the con­fer­ence, par­tic­i­pants are invited to sub­mit full writ­ten papers for peer review and pub­li­ca­tion in the con­fer­ence pro­ceed­ings. This is entirely optional but can be a use­ful oppor­tu­nity to dis­sem­i­nate your research and gain expe­ri­ence in the peer review process etc. A copy of the guide­lines for full papers will be avail­able soon. Please note that pub­lish­ing a paper in the ERA pro­ceed­ings can limit your capac­ity to pub­lish the same paper else­where so you should con­sider your options carefully.

    ERA Bursaries

    The ERA ini­tia­tive is pleased to offer a small num­ber of bur­saries of up to $250 each to assist cur­rent post­grad­u­ate stu­dents in age­ing to attend and present at the 2013 con­fer­ence. These bur­saries are open to stu­dents who have an abstract accepted.

    Post Con­fer­ence Workshops

    Two half day work­shops offered on the morn­ing of Tues­day, 26th Novem­ber 2013 for stu­dents attend­ing the ERA Con­fer­ence. These work­shops are included in the reg­is­tra­tion for stu­dent del­e­gates. Places are lim­ited, so make sure you reg­is­ter early.
