10th International Conference on the Evolution of Language (Evolang) 2014 Vienna

  • The 10th Inter­na­tional Con­fer­ence on the Evo­lu­tion of Lan­guage will be held on 14th — 17th April 2014 in Vienna, Aus­tria at the Depart­ment of Eng­lish of Vienna Uni­ver­sity.

    The Evolang con­fer­ence series pro­vides the major meet­ing for researchers world­wide in the ori­gins and evo­lu­tion of lan­guage. The Evolang con­fer­ences are inter­dis­ci­pli­nary, with con­tri­bu­tions from dis­ci­plines includ­ing, but not lim­ited to: anthro­pol­ogy, arche­ol­ogy, arti­fi­cial life, biol­ogy, cog­ni­tive sci­ence, genet­ics, lin­guis­tics, mod­el­ing, pale­on­tol­ogy, phys­i­ol­ogy, pri­ma­tol­ogy, and psy­chol­ogy. Typ­i­cally, about 300 del­e­gates attend, with rep­re­sen­ta­tives from all these dis­ci­plines. Addi­tional infor­ma­tion on Evolang can be found here.

    Sci­en­tific programme

    The sci­en­tific pro­gramme will include 7 ple­nary pre­sen­ta­tions, 108 podium pre­sen­ta­tions, and 37 poster pre­sen­ta­tions. In addi­tion, Evolang X will host 5 pre-​conference workshops.

    Evolang X will host five half-​day pre-​conference work­shops on April 14th from 9:00 to 13:45:

    Social programme

    The social pro­gramme will include:

    • Mon­day evening: Recep­tion in the Vienna City Hall (free for all)
    • Wednes­day evening: Con­fer­ence Din­ner in a Vien­nese wine tav­ern (Mayer am Pfar­rplatz)
